We just wrapped up the meeting, once again running two hours long. This month,
Perry,
Tish,
Cicelie, Maja and Lidia gathered as we looked at various blogging services and tools. As i promised, here is a rundown of the sites mentioned:
- Blogger - Google's blog service, great for getting started but lack some features advanced users may want.
- WordPress.Com - Service using the WordPress Platform, feature rich but may take some time learning what all the features do.
- Del.icio.us - Online bookmarking service
- Flickr - Photo sharing service that is supported by a broad range of blogging addons and tools.
- Bloglines - Online Blog reader, lets you read all your blogs in one place (for Tish: Kevin Smith's Blog).
- Flock - A browser based on firefox with built-in Flickr support and a blog editor.
- Windows Live Writer - Free tool from Microsoft to compose blog posts. Supports plugins, such as the Flickr plugin shown at the meetup.
- Dreamhost - an online hosting service with great pricing. Unix/Linux hosting only.
- DiscountAsp.net - an online hosting service for ASP.NET websites, not as low cost as Dreamhost.
I hope I didn't forget anything we mentioned. Next meetup we'll look at monetizing blogs, and hopefully we'll have a guest speaker. December is always crazy, so we'll take that month off but get back to work in January with the topic of writing tips.

You will probably want to edit the entry about Flock to say that it's based on Firefox rather than "based on flock."
